For my senior year Spring Break, I will be traveling with a group of 12 other Fordham students to Duran, Ecuador from March 13-20, 2010, where I will be working with an organization called Rostro de Cristo (Face of Christ).

Fordham's Global Outreach program is built upon four pillars: community, spirituality, simple living, and social justice. They set up close to 30 trips per year to everywhere from Nashville or Ecuador, to Romania or even South Africa. As the Global Outreach website states: Global Outreach (GO!) is a student-led program that facilitates service and learning immersion experiences for all members of the Fordham University community. We provide an opportunity for participants to expand their global perspective by exploring economic, social, political, and environmental injustices. GO! participants work to increase solidarity between Fordham, its students, and our partnering communities.

While in Ecuador, we will be focusing on a goal of cultural immersion and working closely with the people to understand their daily lives and our surroundings. With the help of Rostro de Cristo, we will have daily activities like purchasing for our own food in markets and interacting with local businesses and people to help us immerse ourselves in the Ecuadorian culture and learn about their history. The mission of Rostro de Cristo reflects those of the Global Outreach program, and includes leading a simple lifestyle, building an intentional Christian community, being in relationship with the Ecuadorian people and reflect on the face of Christ in their joys and struggles, and working with the Ecuadorian people to find long term solutions to the problems of poverty and together seek opportunities to improve the lives of the people.

For this project, I am required to fundraise $1200 to support me during my trip. This is where you come in! Donate ASAP!

• Donate anything you can! I am grateful for whatever you are willing to give to sponsor me!
• $85 will sponsor me for half a day!
• $170 will sponsor me for a full day!

My first goal is to raise $900 by February 1st, so donate early and help others follow suit! The Christmas season is for giving, so help me reach my goal early.
