The Rotaract Club of Chicago invites you to join us in our effort to improve access to health care in the rural São Paolo region of Brazil.

Who are We? - Supported by the Rotary Club of Chicago, the first and oldest Rotary club in the world, the Rotaract Club of Chicago is an organization of young professionals who believe they can make a difference.

Our Goal - Rotaract Chicago is aiming to raise enough funds to donate $14,000 worth of medical equipment needed to open an intensive care unit (ICU) in Itaí, a rural town near São Paulo, Brazil. We will be working in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Itaí to complete the opening of the ICU.

The Need is Real - The ICU will open in Itaí's only hospital, which provides the vast majority of medical services for free. The hospital’s patients are primarily impoverished rural workers that cannot pay for medical care. Since the hospital does not have an ICU, critically ill patients currently must be transferred to other cities for care, which creates delays of 6 to 72 hours. This delay has proven deadly for some patients in the community of Itaí.

You Can Make a Difference - You can join our efforts by making a donation and we will ensure that your money will go far - funds raised for this project will be submitted for a matching grant from our Rotary District. Any amount you can give will help us meet our goal to make intensive medical care available to the community of Itaí. 

How We'll Use Your Money - All funds received will be used directly for the purpose of purchasing the required medical equipment for the ICU such as a respirator, a defibrillator, an infusion pump, and monitors.  Additionally, all donations are tax deductible (this website automatically provides you with a receipt for your tax filings).
