Lafrances Rowell is a 26 year old mother of three and has continued to work as a housekeeper after being diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer in March. She is about to start radiation treatment 5 days a week and does not qualify for disability aid.

Lafrances is a single mother living on the South Side of Chicago and has continued to work as a housekeeper at the Blackstone Renaissance Hotel while undergoing grueling chemotherapy treatments. Despite her desire to continue working, the radiation treatments she is about to begin require five days of intensive radiation and two days a week of rest. Under the American Disability Act, Lafrances does not qualify for aid because she does not have "life-threatening" Stage 3 or 4 Cancer. It is not an option for her to defer rent payments and she is unsure of how she will be able to maintain the residence for herself and young children.
