Give Forward

I am a high school senior interested in higher education. I currently attend a public charter school and our local community college (threee classes) and am interested in attending the University of Colorado at Boulder in the fall 2010. My course studies will include a focus on psycology and creative writing.  I am also interested in sketching.  My GPA remains at 4.0 and I believe i will receive scholorships and grants but i know I'll need more money for all the other expenses.  I have done a lot of research to come up with a budget of $4000.00.  Some of the items include air fare, a laptop computer, storage bins for my dorm room, copy expenses, and basic living needs.

My history:  i was born on Maui in 1992 and have spent most of my 16 years living in South Maui with my mom, brother and family dog.  My mom works with special need adults and does not have an income to support my higher education.  She has always been very supportive and continously encouraged a focus on education.  Through my high school i have participated in several community service events, and once volunteered at my mother's workplace.  I have also been involved in school spirit activities, was a Key Club member  as well as showed support at sporting events.  During the summer I worked for a non-profit organization and earned $1400.00 to help with family living expenses and to pay for my books.

I have also designed a website to raise funds for my higher education and hope to have it running by September 15th.  I am also planning a car wash and a 50-50 event in which half of the funds raised will be donated to a chosen charity.

I believe there are a lot of people who have the heart to give to a good cause but there are so many great causes out there! That is why I am only asking for a one dollar donation from those who want to be a part of my success!
