The Concept
GiveForward.org is a site that will help organizations and individuals raise money online, by allowing users to create a profile page, much like a social networking site with photos, videos, blogs, information about their fundraising efforts, and details about how much money is needed. Fundraising organizers can then use their customized profile page to market and collect donations quickly and easily through online credit and debit card transactions.
Unlike other fundraising sites, GiveForward will allow users to raise money for projects that may or may not be affiliated with a non-profit organization. For example, GiveForward will:
- Allow any student to raise their own scholarship funds
- Help groups pool money for gifts, trips, and reunions
- Encourage individuals to help their communities directly
- Enable non-profits to fundraiser for specific projects within their organizations
Our Philosophy
At GiveForward we believe that people shouldn’t wait to give back until they can give enough to "make a difference." We should be encouraged to give what we can when we can, regardless of the amount; because collectively, with a big enough lever, we can move the world.
To GiveForward means to invest small amounts of money now in the people and causes you believe in. It is the idea that with as little as $1 you and the generosity of your personal network can help someone achieve a dream or change the world, whether it is helping him form a non-profit, paying for a stranger’s college tuition, or helping her start a business that will create jobs and bring value to society.
We also believe that any size donor has the right and the responsibility to choose how their gifts are used and to see what grows from those gifts. With most online giving sites, donations go to the general operating funds of 501(c)3 organizations. Donors rarely receive feedback about how their dollars are used. At GiveForward we empower donors to be strategic with their gifts, encouraging them to recognize which projects will leverage the greatest value and which are the most meaningful to them through our advanced search capabilities. In addition, donors will receive updates from fundraiser organizers letting them know the impact of their gifts.
