In lieu of gifts for his huge accomplishment on the occasion of his Bar Mitzvah, Ethan is asking that his family and friends give to Bear Necessities, a children\'s cancer charity and Amphibian Ark, focused on endangered amphibian conservation!
On the occasion of his Bar Mitzvah, in lieu of gifts, Ethan is asking his family and friends to give to two of his favorite charities, Bear Necessities and Amphibian Ark.
Bear Necessitites is a national organization whose mission is to eliminate pediatric cancer and to provide hope and support to those who are touched by it. As a Leukemia survivor himself, Ethan knows how hard it is for a child to struggle with the fear and pain involved the the treatment of childhood cancer and now he wants to do something to give back.
Your contributions will go to help fund Bear Necessities' Small Miracles Program. The goal of the program is to support pediatric cancer patients (ages 0-19) and their families as they face the many physical, psychological, and financial challenges that accompany the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric cancer. The program consists of two components:Doing something special for the child and providing supportive services for the family.
As you probably know if you've spent any time with him, Ethan is passionate about frogs and amphibian conservation. Amphibian Arc is addressing the amphibian extinction crisis, which represents the greatest species conservation challenge in the history of humanity. One third to one half of all amphibian species are threatened with extinction, with probably more than 120 already gone in recent years.
The AArk vision is to keep the world’s amphibians safe in nature, and the mission is ensuring the global survival of amphibians, focusing on those that cannot currently be safeguarded in nature. The AArk coordinates ex situ programs implemented by partners around the world, with the first emphasis on programs within the range countries of the species, and with a constant attention to the obligation to couple ex situ conservation measures with necessary efforts to protect or restore species in their natural habitats.
