The Emolior Flyers is a cross country running club. The vision of this club was created based on a passion. The passion to help young Americans adopt a healthy lifestyle by running and keeping active. The Flyers is part of a larger program run by the New York Road Runners called The Young Runners. The program uses the structure and popularity of a team to help kids learn valuable lessons about how to set goals and make activity part of their daily lives.

Flyers offers Emolior scholars a positive avenue through the mind-body connection to combat that negativity. It offers Emolior scholars skills they can take with them through the rest of their lives. It offers Emolior scholars community, belonging, and encouragement. The goals of the flyers, what we offer, is not easily measured. It may take years to see the affects. In the meantime, the smiles on our students’ faces and the comments they make after they’ve ran farther than had before, the positive encouragement they give one another, and their commitment to running are all definitive indicators of progress.

There is just one problem. My kids can’t afford proper running attire. In a world filled with obesity and couch potatoes, we are trying to motivate students to become healthy and active, but they can’t perform correctly and have the possibility of getting injuries because they can not afford proper clothing.
