Stand Up for Hearing Aid Action

Hearing Aid Action seeks to pass legislation in Illinois to secure insurance coverage for hearing aid users, both children and adults. Currently insurance does not cover hearing aids for most users, and they are simply cost prohibitive for many who need them. Many adults go without necessary hearing help because they cannot afford it, making it harder to hold down a job. Children without hearing access lose language capacity, struggle with reading, and require remedial work at school at great taxpayer expense in order to catch up.

This effort is a win-win situation: Individuals benefit when they receive medically necessary hearing aids by being able to participate more fully in the world around them. Society benefits when all people are able to give their best to the world around them.

We have a bill in the Illinois Senate right now. Illinois SB 68 was introduced on January 30, 2009. There is a lot of work to do before it passes, but we believe this cause will ultimately prevail.

HAA needs funds to enable us to fulfill our goal. Interpreters and CART, administrative costs, postage, room rental for large meetings--all of these things cost money. We hope you can stand up for Hearing Aid Action with a donation today.
